Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) treatment involves examining all areas and all tissues which can contribute to problems (including pain, spasm and clicking) in the jaw. We analyze factors which can lead to injury such as poor postural and movement habits, car accidents or other head and neck trauma, teeth grinding, and eating habits. We examine your neck, upper back, skull, and shoulder girdle for movement restrictions due to factors such as joint stiffness, muscle spasm, nerve tightness, weakness, etc.
We work closely with your dentist to understand and address any relevant dental issues. Treatment may involve mobilization of the jaw and spine, soft tissue release, acupuncture, biomechanical correction, and a comprehensive educational and exercise program.
